If books or other items are not available at our library, we may be able to borrow them for you from other libraries. We are now part of CAML, and you can use the "search other libraries" link in our catalog to check their collections.
You can check for item availability on the statewide catalog, MaineCat. New or popular items may take longer to get. Some reference items may be for local use only and are not available for interlibrary loan. Carver is part of the Maine libraries van delivery network, and we get deliveries once a week on Thurdays.
If another Maine library doesn't have the item, we may be able to get it from out of state. Patrons are encouraged to limit out-of-state requests to items that they really want, since they do incur return postage charges for the library.
Patrons are limited to 10 active interlibrary loan requests at one time.
To request an interlibrary loan, you can email interlibraryloan@carverlibrary.org, or use the request form in your library account. Log in to your library account on the catalog, and click on Reserves/Requests and then Request.
At this time, Carver patrons are not able to request items directly through the MaineCat catalog. We hope to offer this sometime in the near future.
Did you know? All Maine residents are eligible for free library cards at both Bangor Public Library and the Maine State Library. If you travel to Bangor or Augusta on a regular basis, using those libraries may be a convenient addition.
